Killing GRUB

    lets see how well i can relay this....

    my buddy put Fedora 4 on his laptop. decided he didn't like it. reformatted and now when his computer starts up, all you see is the word GRUB and there is nothing else you can do. is there anyway to kill this off and fully get rid of the bootloader?

    When he installed FC4 it overwrote the MBR and pointed to GRUB as the boot loader. What OS is he using, WinXP?

    it was on an old lap top running only DOS 6.22

    would fdisk /mbr work?

    That will do it. FDISK /MBR rewrites the Master Boot Record.
