Killing Web Dialers

Does anyone know of a program to stop web dialers from popping up on your PC? I had a really nasty one the other day, that unprompted tried to take over my internet connection. I just happened to catch it out of the corner of my eye. Any help in this area will be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

Apparently I broke some rules while making my first posting.My most humble apologies. The first thing I did was a site search looking for anything pertaining to web dialers.

Here's my pathetic system:
Compaq Pressario 1272 laptop
Windows 98

You can also try Spybot S & D which is free and has an immunize function which currently stops 247 spywares, trojans and hopefully dialers.

It does find and remove dialers very well and is continuously updated. It currently has over 7400 items in its file sets.

 

Or of course you could also go with the legendryAd-aware 6.0 which is very well known for its large database of spyware and stuff.

Dialers are nasty things, im getting rid of them all the time on my parents PC (makes you wonder what they've been downloading :-/ )

 

To stop dialers from installing, calling home or from being executed, download SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard, install and update. Then run either Adaware 6 or Spybot S&D1.2 or both to hopefully clean out (I say hopefully, because you did not specify the type of dialer).

BTW, you could always try TDS-3 .
