Kingston Ssd 240gig Question

    why does my deshtop running win 7 home see the ssd and my hp dv6700 (same OS) doesn't ?

    This is via usb plugin inclosure both cases.

    I presume that the HP DV6700 has no issues correctly detecting other hw plugged into the USB ports ie thumb drive.

    Is the USB external enclosure powered or not?

    I see that the HP has USB2.0 ports. Does your desktop have UBS3.0 ports?

    May I suggest a possible reason if your desktop is USB3. If external enclosure is not powered, then plugging it into a USB2.0 port which supplies only 500mA may not be sufficient.
