Knight dress code...

I'm Scottish by surname. I have my family crest hanging on the wall in my house, and it made me think the other night. It would be a cool tattoo, if I could find a Scottish knight helmet (if such a thing existed) and have it at an isometric angle, with my family crest on the side.. Sort of like you would expect today, if they were in sporting events, you know what I mean? in the style of a football helmet or something.

So, does anyone here know where to start researching what the knights of different areas / times wore? I Know the Knights Templar ended up fleeing to Scotland, but I don't know if that would be what I was talking about.

Anything you can tell me would help. I suppose I could just pick any helmet if I wanted too, but at first, I'd like to stay authentic if I could.

Hey, thanks Tony. I checked out the site, and it got me in the right direction. The pictures where a little smaller than I was hoping, but if they were detailed, I suppose you wouldn't have to go visit them to see the real thing. Gave me some keywords to search though, and I think I found what I was looking for.
