    Hi guys, i've been having problems for the last week when trying to install KotOR or any games for that matter. I would get weird errors that i have never seen before like:

    * Component Transfer Error
    Componenet: Cab US
    File Group: SWCABS US
    File: D:\data3.cab
    Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

    * Component Transfer Error
    Componenet: Cab US
    File Group: SWCABS US
    File: D:\data2.cab
    Error: Incorrect function

    and my favorite:

    * ISSET_SE caused an access violation in SETUP.EXE at 0x00000024.
    (this was caused while trying to install an older game called Caeser 3)

    now i have tried googling the problems, but none of the answers slove them. Microsoft said that it had to do with norton anti-virus, and that i should disable it while i install the file. after i disabled the program, nothing happened, also it said to take off programs that i didnt have, so no help there. Now i know that the CD's work because i used them to install KotOR on a friends comp, and i know that the cd player works cause i installed a new cd-rom and i still get the same message. Please if anyone can help, i would be very appreciative. And just so you know i have windows XP professional

    "Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)"

    This usually means a read error. Try copying the contents of the CD to your HDD and installing from there. If it gives you an error while copying, you'll know the CD drive is having a problem reading the CD.

    well, i tried putting the game Zeus, which is an older game, but i still got the message:

    ISSET_SE caused an access violation in SETUP.EXE at 0x00000024.
    (this was caused while trying to install an older game called Caeser 3)

    I havent tried KotOR yet cause its like 4 cd's and i need to make some time for it. so when i do i'll share the outcome with you guys.

    I've read several things that indicate this type of error is usually due to an attempt to install a program with a virus checker enabled. Try disabling your virus checker for the duration of the install.

    hey fellas,

    i got this same problem with KOTOR as well with the installation.
    i got the game a couple of days ago and soon as i got home i chucked in the cd and start installing, but then during that it stopped at 17% and refused to budge beyond that, then that same error came up:

    Component Transfer Error
    Componenet: Cab US
    File Group: SWCABS US
    File: D:\data2.cab
    Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

    I tried copying the files to HD and it stopped again during the copying. This also happens with CD 3, the other two CD's 2 & 4 seem to work ok since they copied to HD ok. Both Cd's stuff up when copying the data.cab files. I'm wondering if it could be a faulty CD drive or maybe faulty Cd's, i dont have any virus checkers or similar on and this problem also occured when installing Jedi Academy as well, but difference was that it worked one time and faulted up another time so im thinking it could be the CD drive, anyone got any ideas?
    Also my computer specs meets all requirements btw..

    Cheers,
    The Fuzz
