I need help with my blank media. I purchased Kodak DVD+RW and have attempted 2 different programs for burning movie onto disc with no luck at all. I assumed these discs need to be formatted since they have never been used, but when I right click on DVD drive in windows explorer, and choose Format, it fails every time. I've attempted to add regular data, such as a document, no go. What am I missing here? Could it be my hardware and not the disc?

    Hi

What two application have you tried to burn data to these DVDs?
Do you get any error messages when trying to play the DVDs? and if so what is the message?

I would try CDBurnerXP and then burn your disks and see if that works as this is an app I use daily.

It will work with XP > Windows 8 ok as I run Windows 8 64bit.

More than 2 really, if you count Windows 7.
DVDFab, AVS Video Converter, Xilisoft AVI to DVD converter, Toshiba's Disc Creator, and Windows DVD maker.

I haven't tried to play the DVD's. They all 'failed to burn to disc' and since there doesn't seem to be any discoloring on the disc showing it has data on it, I haven't attempted. Should I see what it does in a DVD player?

I, too, used to use CDBurnerXP. But if there were any errors during verification of the burn, the app would sieze up and the only way I could get out of it was by killing the process with Task Manager.

    I now use Ashampoo Burning Studio 6. — just a suggestion :)

That is a fair option in Ashampoo Burning Studio to use as its Free also HERE and worth a go.

What I would do though is as you have multiple burning apps is to uninstall all of them for now then run this HERE to delete the filters then re-install just one and the Ashampoo option is a good one. Then burn a new disk and see how you get on.

*reason for deleting the filters is that many applications add to this list and they can become corrupt or not work well together, so getting back to basics is a sound route*
