    Hi everyone,

I recently had Windows 7 Pro installed on my desktop and the guy who worked on my machine had to wipe all the programs. One of those was Kodak Easy Share (version 5.1). The CD I had didn't seem to install the software but, I think I found an upgrade replacement Kodak EasyShare Software 8.3.0 on this site but had problems installing it. the link is:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/getmirror/kodak_easyshare_software,2.html

I have all the photos that were originally used with the software in a folder on an external HD (for safe keeping) and I am looking for anyone who may have tried to install the same software.

Secondly, I am looking for someone with some experience in how to reinstall where the new software will reformat the picture into the album format as before?

    Your help is appreciated

    Hi

As Joe mentions can you tell us what the current installer does, any error messages etc, but give the below a try

The majorgeeks link is the online installer and I have just tried that now, I have Win 8.1 but did run in compatibility mode to see if it would install, it seems to error at the start of the install as it just starts to try and download the main files. Looking more closely Kodak have discontinued this software, so now likely not on their servers to allow the install anymore.

You could try copying the installer files off your Kodak original CD, to your desktop and then as you are running Windows 7 now, right click the software installer and choose Properties then the Compatibility tab and choose Windows XP SP3 compatibility and tick the Run as Administrator box near the bottom, then run the installer and see if that works, but older software sadly like Kodak Easy Share may not work in newer Windows versions.

You may need to reassess what software you manage your pictures with, some suggestions are Picasa, XNView, Microsoft Win 7 Photo Gallery or a selection you can choose from HERE

Most if not all should allow you to direct the organisation side of the software to scan and list your pics saved to external HDD, but if you go the route of new photo software tell us what one and we can help.

Thanks for the suggestions to this point. The error message I received when trying to install the newer version of the software is as follows:

Kodak Easy Share was unable to finish your task. (Error Code 11x91x2147549183x). Would you like to go on-line to look for a solution?

    YES NO

I didn't know where to go at this point...

When my computer guy tried to install the old CD it made my CD and DVD drive disappear so he had to return to an early restore point

    HI

Sadly looks as if and from a bit of reading the online installer (if the new version you have is less than 2mb in size) will not work as there is no software on Kodak's site for you to download, I had a look around to see if I could find the full installer files but found nothing that didn't look as it if was a malware ridden download site link.

Personally dont think you'll get Easy Share to install, so I would look at alternates.

Just as a thought when you plug your camera into your PC and then you open Computer/Windows Explorer does Windows find the camera (Should be a listing for the camera with the Hard and DVD Drive/s), so you can access the camera memory or smartcard?

I want to take time to thank you guys for your help and experience in the problem I submitted. I think after all is said and done I'll just DL a different software to manage the pictures. Again... Thank you all... You're the best!
