Before I remove this Kodak software and reinstall, and I assume lose the nearly 400 pictures I have in it, I'm hoping someone can help me.

I downloaded and installed Kodak's latest upgrade. Ever since I did that I can't open the software. Each time I try to open it a message pops up and tells me that EasyShare has encountered a problem and has to close.

Does anyone know a way around this so that I don't have to lose my pictures?

Windows XP SP2, IE 7, 512 MG Ram, AVG virus and firewall

    Thanks,
    Nikiliet

As long as the pictures are in your My Documents Pictures folder, they will not uninstall with the EasyShare software. Just to be safe, you should back them up on either another machine, or on CDs.

Thank you so very much. I had no idea those pictures were stored in My Documents.

I have a kodak camera, and someone eventually told me that it isn't strictly necessary to install that easy share software if using windows xp. The scanner and camera wizard in control panel should detect most cameras and upload photos anyway. Saves messing about I guess.

    Agree with brownizs. :)
Pictures should be in My Documents-->My Pictures folder and should be safe.
Back them up, as suggested to CD's, or DVD's, or a USB stick if they will fit, just in case. Bazza
