this thing completey rocks. It takes a while to get used to but it's quite slick, especially in landscape mode. The "itelli-spell" definitely helps with the speed of writing a post but I certainly wouldn't want to di it all day long. lol :)

Now lets see what cool programs there are out there !!!!!

Congrats - I recommend the following geek activities:

convert movies to play on your pda
use your Ax as a universal remote control
find every wireless hotspot in town.

Please expand on suggestion #2 please. Provide links to software (preferably free as I dropped the entire wad on both pda's) that will allow me to do this :)

Aximsite.com has a section for new PDA owners. You download software that uses your IR port to emulate a remote control. Some models work better than others due to the power output of their IR.

I have the Axim X30 High and I love it. I use it all the time. Aximsite is what lead me to purchase the Dell, it rocks. Congratulations on your wise decision!

I checked that out last night..
I also like the terminal client that works wonderfully with my win2k/2003/ servers and my xp box :)
Put it in landscape mode and it was much easier to get around. Not something that I see as truly practical, but useful if in a jam.

I've always been interested in using the Ax to VNC into the home network and change lights and cameras via x10. Mess with the kids and wife while at work.....heh.

    Hey Kodo,

I just ordered my X50v a couple of days ago, so hopefully it'll be here any day. I got the deal which includes an extra 1100 ma battery, cradle and two year warrenty. Plus they threw in a MS 5.0 upgrade

    Anyway, couple of questions...

Do you have a GPS unit for yours? I definitley plan on getting one, but there are so many, and so many different types- BT, CF, serial, etc.

Also, did yours come with a SD or CF card?

How do you find the 1100 battery? Is it worth getting the 2200? I've heard that with the 2200, it won't fit in most cases.

I've checked out Aximsite, there is a TON of info, but it's all sort of random. So what tips can you give an Axim newb? And how about HACKS?!?!?

    Thanks,

    -Steve

    Have a look at www.pdawin.com.

At first glance, it looks like quite an amatuer site, but the remote control software is excellent. It can use CCF files, so you can build your own menus for your IR equipment. I changed mine so that the volume buttons always control the amp, doesn't matter whether I'm watching a video or DVD.

CCF files do take some work, but well worth it when it's done. I'll try and post some of my screenshots when I get home.

Another thing I use mine for is Skype, combined with the Wi-Fi, works perfectly.

    Have fun with it.

PS - Did you know that UFO - Enemy Unknown is available for PPC in it's full version :)
