You have downloaded my malicious software last month.

The virus encodes all files with AES-256/AES-192. After cipher the virus may freeze your system with no possibility to save files. Backup copy will cause the freezing.

You already guessed that its a ransomware.

If you wish to continue using of your drives and files pay me 145 usd in bitcoins. I accept only total amount. After receipt I am going to give you manual which will support you eliminate my malware.

Its mine bitcoin number - xxx

You have thirty hours since this moment.
    "

    Is this legit?
I have searched on line for this and there are removal instructions but i don't recognize any of the sites that are hosting instructions. Should i be worried?

Have you noticed any files being encrypted? Ever found this virus name or any other suspicious-looking running in Task Manager's Processes? If the notice had been through a pop-up window, rather than an e-mail which could mean only that your address has been obtained, I would have been more concerned then.

Do yourself a favor. Heed what dr.moriarty said in post #5! Click the link he gave and carefully follow the instructions there to create 5 different logs. Start a thread in the Specialist Forum, attaching those 5 logs. A specialist will work with you from thereon and its all free! The programs used are all available from this site and are all free!

Beware: There are some fixit sites that suggest a free scanner tool to diagnose your issues, but won't fix anything until after you subscribe. It costs you money! This is exactly what "lindholm kendell" wants, too.

Please people, do yourself a huge favor and Learn to make images!
If you are suspicious of anything it takes less than an hour to restore an image and you don't waste time worrying about something that might or might not be on the computer or searching for fixes that might be scams and actually doing more damage.

A case in point confirming my statement of "WOT reviews of the majority of websites on the 1st page of a Google search of this ransome-ware are not favorable."

Fortunately Malwarebytes blocked me from going to the link sexyandy81 posted. That tells me it is not a legitimate site and going there might add more malware to my computer.

Basically is blocking cos the site is asking to download spyhunter but i am not directing you to download the software i was showing you the information on the page as to the legit of the ransomware.

-which I had done the previous day without linking to a site rated as Unsatisfactory by Web of Trust for encouraging the download of a software that only scans unless you purchase it. There are well-known true freeware available to combat this malware.
