    Hey all.

Im mostly into gaming. so I build machines around that. and some servers...
anyways, i want to control two pc's at the same time. Using only one mouse and board. now i got a kvm switch, but thats what it does.. it switches. what hardware do i need to get it going the way i want it?

I want to do everything exactly the same with my inputing as far as mouse and boards go... thx for the help

what do u mean you want to do everything the exact same? do you mean have the EXACT operations and movements on BOTH COMPTUER at the SAME TIME? Explain more...

I'm a little confused too. If jritzee understood you correctly and you want to be able to control both computers at the exact same time then you're out of luck. There is no such HW or SW designed to do this. Although in theory it's possible I can't think of a single reason to do that, besides from MAYBE and I stress MAYBE installing an OS, but even then it's not a good idea since both PC's would have to work at EXACTLY the same speed and even identical PC's tend to vary a little.

Unless he is talking about a computer farm. But I doubt it in this situation.

yea but still, what if one computer lagged, and the mouse got moved to a diffrent spot? or one freezes and needs to be restarted? the mouse won't be in the same spot, so yes unless i miss understood you, your out of luck and it's not really smart to do it this way. :)

Ok... here is a little bit of a reply to all of you... All i want is a hardware.. that lets me use mouse and keyboard at the same time on two computers.

so what if a computer lagged... all i would have to do is mouse to an edge.. then both go to the edge and vwal la... back to norm... its not a farm either... and why would i want two computers in one? just build one thats super uber...

the reason is so that i can play a game... WoW to be specific... and make two characters... which are controled by mouse and board... now if i had something that let control mouse and board on both computers using only one of each.. doing every thing exactly the same then that would be great. nowhere did i post about the computers doing the exact same thing.. that would be a waste... they are both, however, built to perfection, each having same amount of bandwith and ram so there is no lag to worry about. Both function at peek performance.. ok i hope i cleard some questions about my post up..

just need something to connect one mouse and keyboard to two computers... letting me mouse and type at the same time on both comps.... so what i do on one computer, so will the other.. if i so choose on any given program...... nothing about servers or os.... just want that...

btw thanks for the help guys

Put 2 monitors on to one computer and then use remote desktop to control the second computer , I have this setup and works great. Not for gaming but you can have 2 cpu intensive programs running at same time and control both from 1 keyboard and mouse.there is also a program out there called multiplicity that lets you control 2 pcs from one keyboard.

hrm thats sounds kool.. kinda like synergy... but does the mouse move from on monitor to the next?... or does it have two pointers? one on each monitor... whatever one does, so does the other?

No the mouse moves from one screen to the other, very smooth, no lag.

The idea martinch posted would have the exact same result as using a KVM. It won't solve your problem. In fact nothing will, or well to be clear, nothing that currently exsits will.

What you're asking for a a pretty odd thing that most computer users would consider quite useless. There is no market for such a device and as such no device exsits. As I said above it is in theory possible, but the only way you're ever going ot acheive such a solution is if you either make the needed HW yourself or pay someone smart to make it for you.

The concept of what you want isn't really that hard, and with some decent understanding of how mice and keyboard work you could create ones with two plugs coming out of them. In fact just splicing another keyboard and mouse cord onto the current keyboard and mouse would most likely work for what you want. But it's very odd and if you arn't careful you'd recieve to much signal loss and render the keyboard and mouse useless. It's also likely you could open up the KVM and break it so the switch was constantly on for both computers, but to be quite honest it's most likely easier to splice the cords.
