I installed new L.G dvd burner and i can't seem to get my computer to recognise that ived installed it, when i turn on computer tells to insert start up disk ? i assume it's the disk that came with burner, i have followed advise from other members threads, ive booted with disk in and have reinstalled many times and still no go ? so at the moment i have my old burner installed again so as i can use my computer, i can't actually burn anything, play etc on it as tells me corrupt drive, that's why i have new L.G burner so im stuck with one burner i can't use and a new one i can't get going so any help in this regard would be much appreciated. My O.S is Vista Home Premium, Thanks Roseman in OZ confused

Double check that the jumpers on the back of the new drive are set correctly, as in if this is the only drive on the IDE cable set it to Master or CS, but if its the 2nd drive on the IDE cable make sure the 1st drive is Master and the 2nd is Slave.

but what you could do is look at the drive you removed and set the new drive to the same jumper setting.

Also delete the drive from Device Manager and reboot, this will re-install the default Windows driver.

and failing those it is possible that you may just have a defective drive.
