LaCie 80 GB external HD issue

    Tried to partition my brand new LaCie HD on my Compaq 2590US laptop like the manual said and the partition wizard never came up after I plugged everything in. The laptop did recognize the HD and the drivers appear to be working OK.
    On bottom of screen in "disk management," it reads, "primary partition."

    Any idea of what's wrong if anything??
    Could I try and format the HD and see if I can partition it.
