lag in sound

I have realtek HD, since I've gotten this computer i've always had lag in the sound even before I put in my new graphics card (geforce 6600 gt OC) my system specs are 3.0 ghz multi processors and a gig of ram. I don't understand why my sound would lag begind

Some mobo will OC automatically PCI from DF 33mhz to higher when you oc Vga card (AGP) this reason will make your Sound card do not run stable.
your VGA 6600GT is AGP or PCI-E ? if it AGP do you OC your VGA card bus ?

I'm not sure if you are the same person I showed the new realtek HD drivers to, if you are, I assume they did not work? If you ware a different person, have you tried downloading the latest drivers for realtek HD?

When you say multiprocessors, do you mean two physical cpus or just one cpu with 2 cores?
