LAME_enc.dll

I downloaded and installed a sound editor called "Audacity" to convert WAV. files into MP3, as well as record and save as MP3. When I attempt to save I get a dialogue box stating that I need to install "LAME_enc.dll", and that I would only have to do this once. Peachy. I googled and found lots of hits, but everywhere I go it wants me to D/L and install an entire program to get the LAME library. Anyone know where I can get this DLL without an entire program? AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGG!! I went to free-codecs.com and downloaded the lame library that has this dll in it. It came in a zip file. Can anyone tell where to extract the files to make them work in conjunction with Audacity?? This is very confusing for me.

 

Read the online help under "MP3 exporting". It doesn't say where it goes, it just asks for the location of the Lame encoder. As long as you can give it the path, it doesn't matter where the dll is at. I just directed it to my lame dll in DB Poweramp and it worked.

 

I'll do two things:

1> create a restore point.

2> Give it hell....never done anything like this before......Thank you for your help!!

 

Extract the library. Copy lame_enc.dll to your Audacity folder. The first time you try to extract an mp3 Audacity will ask for location of the lame file. Point it to the folder. GL.

 

Thanks Gordon. Prior to your post I did just that and it worked spiffy. Never had to do anything like that. Worried about a bunch of nothing...it was cinchy. Thank you for your response...it served as a validation of my efforts.
