    Hi and welcome to MG's,
Was your system originally supplied with Win 7 (64 bit), if so then I very much doubt that you will be able to get xp drivers to work for that board.

here is the drivers page for your machine......

    http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=2042

here is an xp version of that driver....

    http://www.techpowerup.com/download...ontroller_Driver_v5738_for_XP_32bit64bit.html

download and save it to your desktop.... do not run it yet....uninstall the driver that you have installed then reboot your machine.... click out of any "found new hardware" and install the the driver from your desktop... hopefully this will resolve your issue.
