    Dear sir/madam,

I have a (hopefully) small problem. Our house subscribes to DSL. My computer - the one experiencing the problem - experiences short lapses in connectivity. For 1 to 2 seconds, out of 30 to 60 seconds, a message will pop up indicating that the computer has limited or no connectivity and then the computer will immediately reconnect itself. It seems to repeat in a continuous cycle always timed in these 30 to 60 second intervals. This may be the cause of problems with my daughter's notebook which is on this network wirelessly. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this problem before and had a solution or at least some ideas on different things to try. Thanks in advance for your help and suggesstions.

    Regards,
    Swathi.

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack is the PC using?
Who is your ISP and have you had them check your DSL line for any issues?

Reboot your router and see if that fixes the issue, at times a reboot (turn off and on) helps.

If your PC is connected by ethernet, then unplug and plug the laptop in via ethernet and turn off the wifi and see if the laptop connects ok via ethernet, this may rule out the desktop as the issue and it being your router or DSL line, or vice versa.

Try Safe Mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking) and see if the network connections are ok.

Try the steps here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892896 (dont know what your Windows version is so went with XP at a guess)

    Dear sir,

My PC is using Windows XP Professional. I am a student studying 8th std.I do not know more about networking. Actually for the first time I playfully disabled the local area connection. After a long time I got help from Windows help and support center and I enabled the connection. From that day I am having this problem. I don't know how to reboot and the terms that are mentioned in your message. So please give me suggestions that I could understand easier. Thanks in advance for your help and suggesstions.

    Regards,
    Swathi.
