    Hello everyone,

I'm James:) , I'm new here and have been surfing this site for about a year now, you guys sure helped me out on my trojan vundo deal a while back,
    thanks so much.

Now for a question, yesterday I got on a site that was Korean, it asked me
if I wanted to install a language pack and I said yes, I realized there was some english in the text after I downloaded it, but not much.

So I decided to uninstall this file, but after searching the net, on the Microsoft website it said you cannot uninstall it (I think this was the right download they were talking about because you had a lot of Korean file downloads to choose from on Microsoft's site).

Anyway I searched and found some people had problems after installing Korean Language packs (unwanted asian pop-ups,freezing, using up memory,etc...) I don't want any problems, so I want if off if at all possible.

I have XP with service pack 2, any response will be great

    Thanks again

    James:)

Check Add/Remove for Korean Input Method Editor or Global IME and remove it, if you did that as you mentioned you uninstalled it, its removed.

Depends which part of MS you were looking at can you post the page which said you cannot remove it, as the IMEs are part of office language packs which allow you to view webpages as well, but can be removed.

    Hello everyone,

I didn't download this pack from Microsoft, I got it off of a Korean Website.

I mentioned Microsoft, because when I did a search for uninstalling this Language pack, Microsoft's site had this Language pack, (which I assumed was the same one as I downloaded from the Korean Website)

Here is the page from Microsoft, 3/4 of the way down the page it says there is no uninstall.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9CFA419F-F25D-4F9C-B1DC-3EF7C4F1BE91&displaylang=EN

Oh Yeah Halo, on the add/remove there was no Korean input method or Global IME, I could not find it to remove, I don't even know where to look for it:eek:

    Thanks again

    James

ps: Matilda Milty what does nvm Mean?

Well James seems like your absolutely correct, I do remember having installed IMEs in Office which are the same variety as used in IE, but have an uninstaller http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...4F-2D58-4334-A1A8-0B3B43D474A6&displaylang=en ( note at the bottom of page this one says you can uninstall... however its not the same as the one XP installs sadly )
however, on my home PC, I did some playing with IMEs ( languages ) for Korean, Japanese and Chinese, while it was the website visit that prompted the install of the lauguage the actual files come from XPs i386 folder which if you didnt know houses all the installer files for XP.. so in one respect you are safe as these are original and legitimate Microsoft files. I didnt notice any more popups that normal and not that I get too many using IE6 SP2 anyhow as it has a popup blocker which gets most and no more memory used than normal.

however and this is the bit your waiting for... their is no uninstaller & no easy way to uninstall, as you only installed this language a few days ago, my best advice is to backup any important files you have created in the last few days and use System Restore to restore you back to a day before you installed the Korean language ( I just did the restore on my PC to test and it removed the lauguage and now gives me the prompt to install the language again when visiting a Korean site ), you may also need to update any security apps that have updated in the past few days again.

as for Mada and the nvm it means Nevermind, happens as you cannot delete your posts, so if you posted and didnt want to or changed info then easy to say Ooops! or NVM.

    Hello Halo,

Just got home from work, saw you responded to my question, thanks for your help, really appreciate it:D.

I didn't bother to back up files since this happened Sunday the 19th, and I haven't created any important files since that time frame.

I just tried the System Restore, I think I got it right, what I did was,

    1. click on the start button
    2. right click my computer, then Properties
    3. turn off system restore
    4. then click apply

When I did this there was no automatic prompt for me to restart my computer, so I just clicked on start and restarted it by clicking on restart.

    5. turn on system restore
    6. click apply
    7. click ok

When I did this I visited the Korean website that I got this language pack from and it still showed some english (not a lot at all, and a bunch of Korean). I didn't have the luck you did and have the Korean site ask me if I wanted to install the Language pack, I took this as system restore didn't work, or maybe I didn't do system restore right:eek: oh yeah the site I got this from was dkbnews.com

    Thanks

    James

ps. what is IME:confused: , sorry I know about computers, but I'm miffed about some abbreviations, I'm learning though:)
