Which is it that is evil to your laptop? Metal Detectors (walk through ones at the airport) or the X-ray machines (at the airport)? I get conflicting issues on google.

    Neither will affect your laptop.

My laptop went thru all manner of airport security last month with no ill effects. The good thing about laptops and airports is finding out, during a four hour layover, that Las Vegas' McCarran has free wi-fi, and dozens of electrical outlets in the concourses.

The energy in the force field required to do any sort of damage to a laptop is in the range of teslas, which isn't going to be created by an airport detector.

Provided you don't have some sort of strange storage device on your laptop which relies on X-ray radiation in order to function, you should be okay there too ;)
