    I have a Toshiba Satellite A15-S127 laptop that's a few years old.
2Gh Celeron with 30GB HDD and 256 MB DDR SDRAM.
It has been really slow the last few months. I had a lot of picutres and video on it so I put it all on an external drive freeing up 17GB of usable space left but that didn;t do it.
I am running thru the computer maintenance thread now and have CCleaner working. I have a startup list that I am not sure what it all is and if I need it all. I can't seem to cut and paste it. but here are a few that I dont recognize.
    LtMoh
    PmProxy
    IgfxTray
    AGRSMMSG
    Apoint
    TFNF5
    Pinger
    BJCFD

I am going to do the disk defragmenter next.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It is so bad that i often can't use two programs at the same time.
    Thanks!

You should check where the files for these running processes are located on the disk...LtMoh / PmProxy / IgfxTray.

If a "non-Microsoft" .exe file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder,(or anywhere other than in your program files) then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection!

I am not a malware expert, so it may be best to run this online scan and report back what develops before we need to head into the malware forum!

The following are the startup files that do not show where they are located. the others show in the system 32 file or program files folder.

    000StThk.exe
    AGRSMMSG.exe
    TFNF5.exe
    TPWRTRAY.exe
    Pinger (located in c:\toshiba\jvp\jsm\pinger.exe)

After running the defrag, it helped a bit but I still have trouble running multiple programs at the same time. and there is not good consistence on internet speed. I still believe it to be this laptop since my other laptop works on the same internet connection just fine.

Thanks for the help. Any more suggestions will be appreciated.

If you are using XP then 256 megs of RAM doesn't really cut it.
Even with earlier OS's, you would be better with at least 512 megs, or more if you can manage it.

Remember laptops usually only have 2 slots for RAM.

    Check out XP FreeRAM http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1670

It will frighten hell out of you how little free RAM is left after you start up XP, for example, with 256 megs only. Around 100 megs free on a desktop I tested.
Not enough to run more than 1 program at the same time.

The program works for all Windows OS's despite its name.

Check out Process Explorer for what, and how many, processes you have running. Bazza

    Thanks!
I have no problem adding memory, just didn't want to bother if it would not help. I'll check the manual to see how much I can out it.
    Thanks again.
