Laptop Buying Advice - Are SSDs affordable

    Sure - places like this offer configurable machines with SSDs, but IMO, you're going to sacrifice a lot to gain a little...

    Thanks for the tip....I may also investigate laptops with shock sensors that shut down the hard drive....my careless daughter has ruined two laptops in the past 3 years, so I thought SSD was the way to go (at least until she graduates, and then that is her own issue to deal with!).
