Laptop CD-ROM

I have a toshiba satellite a55-s326 and the CD-ROM quit working. I removed it and looked up the model number teac DV-W24E. That search yielded very little and I wanted to know if the replacement had to be the exact same model. I didnt want to buy something and it not fit.

Any help would be great, thanks in advance!

Since that laptop is about 8 years old, you might not want to spend too much $$ on it. If you don't travel with it, you could consider buying an external DVD drive. I purchased one on sale for $30 that I can use on my two netbooks. It has the advantage that if a drive breaks in another laptop or desktop, I can use it on that computer too.

Make sure the external drive has a Y-USB power connector. It will use two USB ports because one port doesn't supply enough power.

Thank you, I was just unsure if it had to be the exact replacement because as you said there isnt out that much cheaper than that. As the other poster said it is an 8 year old laptop which I knew would limit the market.
