I would like to buy one of the following two laptops. I need it for audio, and video editing purposes. There are two I can choose from though I won't mention the price because it may hinder your judgement. They are both practically the same specification wise. Do you think one of these two are far superior/absolutely more powerful because of the changes seen in bold? Or does the second one which has a higher number of specs not matter much compared to the first?

    15.4-inch LED widescreen 1440-by-900 resolution
    2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 2GB)
    500GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
    SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon HD 6490M with 256MB GDDR5 graphics memory.

    15.4-inch LED widescreen 1440-by-900 resolution
    2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 2GB)
    500GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
    SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB GDDR5 graphics memory.

I would guess the extra 200Mhz on the second models cpu wouldn't be such a noticeable speed increase performance wise. Though the graphics card specification does worry me... Though I'm no expert so I'll leave that up to you guys. Lastly does anyone know if you can upgrade memory on laptop graphics cards? This will be my first laptop ever, and I'm more so of an expert on towers. A little advice on what the graphics memory would be most useful for would help too. For example if it wouldn't matter much for video editing because the jump up is more so useful on games, than it wouldn't be much of interest for me. But if the jump up helps video editing wise, or during playback of movies to watch than yes I'm concerned. I don't game much I have an Xbox 360 for that.

    Thank You

If it's solely between these two, I'd lean towards the one with the 2.2GHz CPU and 512MB video memory. There are, however, a few other things I'd look for if you plan on doing video editing:

    * 8GB (2x4GB) RAM. This in itself isn't a deal killer - replacement DDR3 memory is dirt cheap, you should be able to buy two 4GB sticks to upgrade it yourself for around $50.

    * A 7200RPM internal hard drive. The extra speed will make a difference in video editing.

    * Either a USB 3.0 and/or eSATA port. If doing serious video editing (especially HD video), 500GB will fill up quickly and you'll need to supplement it with one or more fast external hard drives.

    Hope this helps. :)
