Laptop DC jack repair

A laptop store quoted me $249 to repair the DC jack on my laptop.

Is this the going rate, or does that sound super high?

 

Unfortunately in my opinion this is a personal preference question that only you can answer, first is the laptop worth it, how old is it, and can you purchase a new one for close to that price. People who work on laptops charge what the market can handle, you can find a cheaper price if you look around and I'm sure there are higher ones too. If it were me I would certainly get a second and third opinion before I lay that much out for a dc jack to be soldered.
