Laptop dilemma. Need some help!

Hi there ..
I have just moved to scotland and I need a laptop for my university studies.
I am a student and hence price is a factor, but also battery lifetime.
I need 2-3 hours which is pretty normal now a days.
I bought a used Latitude D600 which was not a good bargin. The battery is running out and the USB is not working well. I can though just return it.

On the new laptop that I need and need your reconmendation for should be able to run Starcraft brood war which is not a problem, but I need USB2 which should not be a problem but It should also be able to power my Vestax vci-100 midi controler.
Here are the min requirements :

I have looked at the eee pc but it is simply to small..
The main factors are price and that it can run my vci-100

budget is 452.45 us dollars
Or 250 u.k pond.
or 320 euro.

If you can help me I will be very happy.
