    Hi,

My laptop (dell inspiron) had Window XP. It came with sony cd/dvd writer (hardware and software). Because the cd/dvd writing software was not full version, I uninstalled it and installed the Roxio (which is also sony). After this I could not reboot the computer. It showed a blue screen and I could not do anything, even could not boot in safe mode.

So, I tried to boot using bootable dvd (came with laptop) by changing the boot sequence to cd/dvd. I saw hard drive light on. But nothing happened, just blank screen. it could not boot from dvd also.

Then, I format the hard drive (by using Linux cd) and tried to boot from window bootable dvd again but no success. I could not install window. I thought it could be problem due to dvd rom. But it works fine with Linux bootable cd. I have installed Linux successfully.

Your any idea to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Manojg

    Hi,

I solved this problem. I erased the disk completely by using KILLDISK and then installed window xp. Everything worked just fine.
