Laptop drops wireless connection

    I have a dell Inspiron 1501 with a Dell wireless 1390 WLAN card. It originally came with Vista, but ran like a dog. I recently tried installing XP SP2 and it ran great.................so I purchased XP SP3, installed it only to find out that SP3 won't configure the wireless card. Now I have trouble dropping the connection. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, I had the 2006 version but I'll try the 2008 and see what happens.
