I am looking to get an inexpensive laptop (around $500 - 700). I am going to use it for some school work, editing home videos, and connecting it to my LCD TV. So I know I need a HDMI connection. My question is how big of a roll is the processor and graphics card going to play when connecting to the TV. The computer I am looking at has the following:

    Processor Brand: Intel
    Processor Class: Core 2 Duo
    Processor Type: Dual-Core
    Processor Speed: 2.0GHz
    Processor Number: T6400
    Processor FSB: 800MHz
Processor Cache: 2 MB L2 Cache
Additional Technologies: Intel Centrino Processor Technology
    Graphics Description: Integrated Graphics
    GPU/VPU: Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
Video Memory: Up to 1759 MB of Dynamic Video Memory

Would this do what I need it to do? Thanks!

I would go with a brand other then Gateway. I her about about gateway laptops having drives failing very quickly.

You don't really need a HDMI connector. You can buy a DVI to HDMI converter for like 10 bucks.

Those specs on another brand laptop should be ok.

    EDIT:

If you wish you could pickout a laptop and we can give you our opinions on it.

Thanks for the input. And I should have been more clear about the processor/graphics card questions. What I meant was would any NEW cards do the job well or would I have to update a low end one?

I will look at some other options and will post it for review. Thanks!

I think a card like that would do fine for what you are doing. Nothing graphic intense. How big is your TV?

    I am looking for:
    1 - Good battery life
    2 - Good Multi-tasking computer
3 - Ability to play online videos for my 42" LCD HDTV
    4 - Good Wifi capability
5 - From what I hear Vista stinks so a free windows 7 upgrade could be a big bonus

Some of the computers didn't have an ExpressCard/34 port. I have no idea what this is...is it something I would use?

Sorry for the long list but I spent hours putting it together. I am wondering if the higher priced ones (mid $700) are that much better than the $599 or mid $600 ones.

I am willing to buy any of these computers, or will take other suggestions, but I just want to get a reliable computer.

Cool, thanks, I will check it out. But which one should I get?

Depends. Which one do you like out of them?

Haha, I like them all. I went through 100s of laptops and these were all the finalists. I know my question is vague so no worries.
