I wanted to be able to put a laptop IDE HDD to my desktop pc, I wanted to work with it and then replace it back into the laptop.

Is this possible? It looks like it would be.

    Hello,
If you plan on installing inside your computer, you will need a 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 adapter. Or, you can use a USB adapter like this one.

I got it running, i needed a different IDE ribbon with an adapter I had, was hoping to use an external enclosure but the IDE had a block filled in so the Laptop hdd would not fit.
Opened up a case, found a ide ribbon without this filled pin hole and was on.

    thank you!

    Hi Break,

Glad you got it sorted out. For future reference that blocked hole just has plug in it. I get them out with a straight pin from the cable side. Tough ones I have drilled out.

    Luck, Jim
