i have windows vista/norton 360 on an HP laptop and this is my issue.

When I goto click on a folder on my drive or click links in Firefox, etc. the computer doesn't register the click. SOmetimes I have to click the link 5-6 times quickly for it to work.

This seems to happen in waves of a few seconds. It will not register any clicks for 10-15 then it will get better. SOmetimes it will work fine. When I click a folder twice it will open right away but then it will fade away and act sluggish again.

    What might be causing this?

    thanks

Hello, glasshalffull5 :wave, how old is your mouse? You might be wise to purchase a new mouse, and see if that takes care of your problem.. (maybe the cat got that mouse one time too many!:-D)

Seriously, sounds like you just need a new mouse.. Give that a whirl, as I have found it works wonders when mine wasn't registering.... (But then, I do have a cat! :-D)

    Hey TeeCee,

I have a wireless mouse and it's less than a year old, I had just replaced the battery a short time ago but put another battery in and it's working better.....although it still seems to not be 100% back to normal.

    It did help though. thanks

Hi glasshalffull5, thanks for the update... Wireless, eh? Maybe the battery was bad. Try the new battery, and see if that helps, and let us know... We will troubleshoot one thing at a time... ;)

Hang in there, I think we will get to the bottom of it if the new battery doesn't work... Also, since it is less than a year old, what kind of warranty do you have? You may just have a bad mouse, and may be able to get it replaced by the manufacturer. Might be worth checking into. ;)

I just fixed it a second ago.

The wireless mouse adapter in the usb port was having issues. the battery helped a little but not entirely. So I took out the adapter and put it into the usb slot next to it and it works fine now. It locks in place so it couldn't have been knocked loose but when I try something else in the usb slot that had issues it works fine.

who knows but problem solved now.

thanks for the help and info.

Hi glasshalffull5, that is good news! The USB slot! You just remember not to plug anything into that one, maybe slap a piece of tape across it for safety. Glad to hear it is working now! ;)
