Has anyone had this problem? My month old Dell Inspiron keeps clicking as if it's opening a page at random times. This happens both online and off. I ran scandisk, McAfee, and AdAware to see if anything was amiss, but the clicking(sounds EXACTLY like a page is opening) persists, randomly, about 3-5 times a minute. Performance doesn't seem too affected, EXCEPT, before the clicking started, my links seemed to become less responsive. For example, I'll hit a desktop icon, wait, then have to hit it again for anything to happen. Thank you for any time you have to help me out!

Firstly have you tried turning onboard sound to mute?? and is it still occuring?

I wouldn't even try to explore this problem to greatly but would be returing back to the point of purchase ASAP!!! You didn't pay good money for a product with inherent problems.

Hi, thanks for replying. No, the sound doesn't occur with the volume muted, so I'm sure it's not the hard drive. I'm thinking it's either a result of some goofy program or a symptom of malware or something? Thought I'd try here first since none of my programs have removed it. I do now know why Dell is famous for trying to upsell warranties though(which I turned down!)
