I have a samsung r730 laptop with windows 10. Recently it seems to freeze a lot. For example just now I switched it on and it took a really long time to open Firefox. When it eventually did open it just wouldn't do anything was just completely frozen. I tried to restart the laptop but when I clicked on the power button from the control panel it just froze so I just had to switch off by holding the power button. IT'S not just Firefox that is slow, I tried downloading openoffice the other day and when I tried to run the exe file it just took an eternity and wouldn't respond. I have anti virus installed and ccleaner. As I am typing this now from my tablet I have rebooted and since entering my password it is taking forever to load up. Sorry for the long message and I hope someone can help me http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png

When Windows isn't running well you can reset it and it should fix most system problems. However resetting will remove any software you have installed yourself, even Microsoft Office. You can choose to keep your personal files or to reset everything.

Start > Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > Reset this PC

Win 10 has a built-in firewall and Defender for AV/AM. These are sufficient for active protection, it's all I use. Others will recommend other software.

All depends on your internet habits if you are a safe surfer and safe downloader then defender will do a great job. But if you are a torrent downloader etc. then you will need something stronger than defender.

I would all so recommend on looking in your task manger to see what is taking up your cpu power.

It is most likely the windows defender it can take up to 30% cpu just for no reason at all.
