Laptop keyboard buggered?

Hi, I'm having problems with my laptop keyboard. The caps lock light is flashing on and off like a flicker and the a letter keeps typing as if it were stuck down but its not. Also every once and a while when its restarted at the bios it beeps as if a button wus being pushed down but I checked the keys and they are not stuck down. Any ideas?

 

As silly as this might sound, let's try the simple stuff first. Have you cleaned out the keyboard recently? While the key may not be pressed down, something could be stuck under any of your keys causing these things to happen. (Do you eat at your laptop?)

I had a similar thing happen when my office window got smashed and my laptop was on my desk. For weeks after tiny shards of glass would get stuck under keys causing issues like you describe.

 

ya I did, it did happen till two days ago after I went through the mexican border to get back to canada.

 

Have you added any software to the synaptic package manager recently? What OS are you running? Does it do it in Safe Mode?

 

hmm it does it while loading right at the bios so im assuming its hardware problems? and the only software i've added is a mouse driver

 

Not necessarily. Ubuntu has been known to have this issue on laptops, which is why I asked what OS you were running.
