Ok so its a HP G60 OS doesnt matter cos it wont get that far....
Couple of weeks ago it wouldn't switch on or atleast it would light up but blank screen. Managed to narrow it down to one of the memory sticks. Basicaly i took the stick out and 'hey presto' working laptop again!
Ok so its blown a memory stick..... Not something ive come accross before but never mind.
Now same problem light come on, cd starts searching, HD light blinks but blank screen. Not even an attempt to boot to bios. Memory stick gone again i thought (must be big prob if it has i might add) so i borrowed a stick out my other laptop to try and nothing!
Tried an external monitor but nothing!
    Not even booting to bios!

    Im thinking knackered motherboard!?
Tried removing CD drive and HD but still the same.....
    Any ideas?

So the machine switches on but nothing is displayed on the screen? Can you hear the HDD working for any length of time? or any beeps ect?

Also what do you mean by "Problem light"?

Are you sure the video chip is good? You see nothing on the screen from the laptop AND an external monitor.
