hey guys i have a bit of a problem. my laptop seems to overheat at times. a friend told me it was because of bad circulation for the cooling fans. i've been looking around for ways to stop better cooling. i was wondering if anyone knows of a good lapdesk for laptops that allows for cooling. I found one called the "lapinator plus" and i've heard of another that they have at sharper image. so does anyone use or know about laptop lapdesks? could you tell me which ones are good, so that the laptop wont overheat?

    thanks

Just put your laptop on anything that will elevate it and inch or two above the desk, since it's the bottom (where the power supply is), that usually gets hot.

If he's having the same problem I am, that won't work. If it's over 80F, it doesn't matter if I've got it suspended in a sling with a room fan blowing directly on the bottom of it, mine will overheat and shut off.

This is the one I'm getting soon, based on recommendations from people who have a clue:

Yep, I live in Australia, I know what heat is,. Trouble with laptops is, ironically, that they don’t work too good for long in one’s lap, or sitting on a sofa or bed, or other soft surface.

I've tried and recommended solutions like the VANTEC LapCool2 Notebook Cooler you linked to, and they are a help, I've recommended that some people in hot locals use them. But I always like to look for the actual cause of the problem. Sadly, a lot of causes are poorly designed cases and cooling systems. A lot of companies just keep putting higher powered C.P.U.'s and such in their systems, which add to the heat accumulation, without rethink their cooling 'solutions'.

There's quiet a few notebook/laptop cooling devices around, including this one from T-Mod.

the one tibbs linked to is the one i recommended to a friend whose laptop would get jittery and such while playing madden. after the vantec cooler, the jitteryness went away.
