I have an Acer Aspire laptop about 1 1/2 years old. The mouse quit. This is about the third laptop I have had that the mouse quit. I always just used a mouse with a usb cable. Kind of defeats the pupose in some ways. Is it a big job to fix this problem, I have worked on a lot of desktops but never went inside a laptop. Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry but I am a little unsure which mouse isn't working? I am assuming you mean the builtin touchpad mouse but then you said "I always just used a mouse with a usb cable.". Does that mean you use a USB mouse after the thouchpad died or is the USB mouse the one that quit working?

If the touchpad is what quit working, I have had some limited success getting them working again by lightly cleaning the surface with rubbing alcohol. Changing the touchpad can be a challenge on some laptops, on others it's rather easy. Even in a specific brand, different models can vary.
