Well, I kinda screwed up one of my laptops as I was fixing the monitor. When I was taking off the power bar above the keyboard, the first snap I had to unhook was difficult, and I used a lil bit too much force, resulting in pulling too hard, and snapping the wires leading from the power button to the power plug into the mobo. I didnt snap the wires clean off the plug, there is a small bit still left on the plug side, so I know what color wire goes where. I should be able to fix that myself, or just buy another part off ebay. My main thing right now, is knowing whether or not the monitor I replaced with works. I only have a week to return/exchange it if this monitor doesnt work. Now, being that I dont have a working power button anymore, is there a way for me to turn the laptop on, only to check and make sure that the new monitor works? I just need it to turn on and off once, for maybe 5 minutes. I appreciate any help anyone can give!!

Take a pair of wire crimps, crimp the ends of the wires and force them into the respective slots on the connector.
