The cooling fan will kick into high gear then the temps reach a certain degree, the pause, i dont know what or why at that same time. ed

I can only suggest this for when gaming, -
This little program can stop unnecessary services, when gaming - I have tried it some time ago, and it worked o.k----GameXP

1.8ghz CPU (most games arent multi core aware btw).
    Onboard video:
Expandable Video Memory Yes - Up to 559MB Graphics Chipset Nvidia GeForce Go 6150
    Weak onboard video at that.

    5400rpm hard disk...

Any 'strong' application is going to have some hiccups here and there.

You can try turning off any PWM you have, and see if it helps, as these machines drop their speed when idle...then ramp up when needed.

One more thing to check, control panel, power optitions, besure its not on some power saver setting like energy star, set to home-desktop. ed

If simplification is needed, Im sure the poster can handle requesting it.

    Please refrain from repeating others.

Over half of the posters cant find the control panel, let alone know what PWM means, you can have the last word. ed
