RAM is what the computer needs to use programs (memory) right?
So if i were to want to run a large program or run a smaller program for a long time, Id need more, correct? Im pretty sure about this, but Id like more
    details.
If i do decide to get a RAM upgrade, how exactly does it go down? do the hot wire the RAM chips together? Or do they do something else? How do I know what RAM to buy? Can I keep my current RAM and add more to it or do I have to buy a COMPLETELY new RAM chip with higher capacity?

Does the GHz have anything to do with ability to run programs? or is that the speed of the computer?

To answer your questions in order:
RAM (Random Access Memory) is required to run both the OS and to a large extent the programs as you suggested,
A large program generally likes to use as much memory as it can - it will run slower with less memory. A small program that uses less memory doesn't gobble up the memory as time goes on.
To upgrade memory there are effectively two options: Add more chips IF you have a spare slots for it or if there are no spare slots then you replace what you have with a chip of larger capacity.
The speed of a computer CPU is generally given in GHz and if you had two identical PCs but one having a higher GHz CPU then it would run programs faster.

    Ah, OK thank you~
Is 1.60 a good speed? Or is it bad? Do you know a link where i can see a chart or comparison GHz?

Well 1.6GHz is on the slower side these days but it'll still run XP without any problem and is a capable CPU. I'm still running a 1.1Ghz PC and that does what I want it to but I've also got a AMD 3200 PC (which is actually 2.2GHz.) so your 1.6 is in the middle of what I use. :)

As for comparison sites - there are loads out there just google. ;)
