    Hi

My mates just bought a laptop in Guangzhou, China. He thinks he may have been ripped off. When he bought it, the guy told him it was a reconditioned model. It was a P133 processor, but the dude showed him the aboput this computer dialog in Win ME, which said it was a 2.5ghz processor. When the laptop starts up, it says it is a p133. Also, It says in the about this computer thingy that it has 256k of memory, but I tried installing windows xp for him and it said the laptop had not enough memory as it only had 32 mb.

Whats the story? You think hes been scammed? Is it possible to change the aboput this computer dialog?
    please help!

he was scammed, plain and simple, he probably was shown a fabricated spec sheet. also, i would be wary of buying in china

I'm not sure about "altering" the dialogue. But i'm sure it could be replaced by bitmap or something. That really s*cks.

Sounds like a ripoff. I too would be wary of buying anything in China. But hopefully if it was in China he didn't pay too much for it.
