Hi, I bought this second hand computer its great other then not being able to get the CPU under 100 and memory . I have a Lenovo 330 8 gigs of memory windows 10 home. I have went into services and shut down sysmain and windows search. I changed the power settings. I also made sure the startup programs were disabled and I created memory compartments to see if all that would help. I also did a whole windows 10 creator fresh install through USB to reformat windows 10 to see if that would work and still 100 cpu usage.

So if there is anything you can think of I would appreciate it.

Usually if the computer is not used frequently the system runs like that at start up for a while. My guess is Defender and Windows Updates, a lot of background things going on, task manager is no help, it usually just lists it as "system process". My wife would shutdown her desktop and had that issue, after I reloaded it, it would still act up, so she leaves it on & I have her turn on her laptop in advance of using it for that very reason.
I have used this script recently and have not seen any adverse effects: https://github.com/Sycnex/Windows10Debloater
Might help slim down some of the resource hogs.

    Hi Techwoman,

100% CPU is normally a bad/outdated graphics driver.

You can check for updates using the Lenovo System Update app (this can be downloaded from Lenovo's website). Alternatively you can update the graphics driver using:
    • Windows Update
    • Lenovo's website
    • Device Manager

Task Manager tells you which processes are hogging the cpu.

Does the CPU problem persist in Safe Mode?

Yes it does and I tried fixing it. Firefox and the Antimalware service. If I had Google it runs high as well in both cpu and memory. Granted there is only 8 gigs of memory on this laptop.

This review from 2019 suggestd it is a poor performance laptop

Not sure what you mean by this. Do you perhaps mean when you use Chrome as your browser? Google is a search engine. Chrome is notorious for being a resource hog. If you are using Chrome, choose a different browser.

if you have google chrome browser you need to turn of hardware acceleration and that will cut the memory and cpu usage down.

No what I mean is no matter what browser I use it eats memory and cpu.

This is interesting. Scroll down to Check your power supply

Since it is a used laptop that came out in 2017, there is a possibility that it has a power supply problem.

If it has been at 100% from the start, it seems like it is possible that there is a hardware problem, particularly since you did a clean install of Win 10 and still have the same issue.
