My laptop os running very slowly, I have run numerous virus/malware scans and have found nothing.
In my event viewer I have found several Critical error messages but have no idea what they mean or what I can do to stop this.
    the Critical details:

    Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance/Operational

This process is doing excessive disk activities and is impacting on the performance of windows....

    Hi

If you have not updated Vista to SP1, which by the searchindexer file info points to an old file, update and see how you get on as with the RTM version of Vista, other Desktop indexers as in Google Desktop Search can cause the inbuild Vista Search Indexer to hit 100%CPU time. So when your PC shows signs of going slow, hit Ctrl-alt-del and choose task Manager and note what process is taking up most CPU time ( Systm Idle is ok and normal to be high as its showing your PC is idle ).

So if you have other desktop search software installed, uninstall them to see if they are causing the problem.

Do you also have iTunes installed? if so from the Indexers Options > Advanced menu list untick .xml at times if indexer is listed as cause its struggling to search some files and iTunes uses XML to handle temporary jobs, so each time and they can change alot if using iTunes, then the indexer can be constantly running.. maybe fixed in the SP1 update for Vista as I have XML ticked in the Indexer and run Itunes and have no issues.

To get to Indexing Options, click Start and type Index into the Start Search box and in the search list will be Indexing Options > click that then Advanced > Continue at the UAC prompt > click File Types tab and look for .xml and untick
