Laptop screen = not working

Hey all, first off... I'd like to thank those who help to answer questions on this site. I have had a lot of luck getting problems fixed by posting here.

This one I am pretty sure about but I just want some confirmation. When I turn my laptop (asus s96j) on the screen stays on for about 2 seconds before shutting off (completely black, no light at all). Is this my back-light or some other problem?

I'm probably taking it in somewhere to get it fixed because I don't feel like messing with all the small pieces.
