Allright guys, my laptop's screen is gone... it doesn't work, the screen goes weird all the time... and i have to tap the screen to make it work but it's coming to a level where i can't do anything anymore...

So i hooked up a monitor right now, and gonna use that one as my primary screen... but now i wanna remove the screen, but is that safe? can i just removed the screen and use the laptop without the screen...

Also inside, there is one connection cable to the screen that is easy to use, but u guys see the 2 cables to the left that are goin inside? i have to idea what they are and i don't know how to remove them..

    Anyone else got a clue?

Laptops are tricky, if you want to use the screen, I would not mess with it and have it diagnosed at a local shop. You dont need the screen at all and can hook it up to a monitor no problem, however I would not remove it because wires are attached and you, again, dont want to be cutting things your not sure of.

The wires to the left are either for the LCD backlight or they're the 'antenna' for the built-in WLAN card. If the laptop doesn't have built-in WLAN, then we know that they're for the backlight. As stated above, if you're not 110% sure of what you're doing, it's best to take it to someone who knows what's up...

yeah the laptop has built-in wireless card...

i dont wanna take it to a store because i don't have any money... That's the reason why i just wanna use the monitor i had in my basement... but with the lcd screen in the front, i have to put the keyboard beside the monitor...
So that's why i wanna remove the whole top part so that i can put the bottom portion of the laptop in front of the monitor and use it like that until i have enough money to get it fixed...

I was hoping someone who knows all about this could help out?

If i do find a guide on how to remove those 2 wires out of the lcd screen, maybe i can do that and put the cable just beside the laptop for the wireless reception

if i didnt wanna use the screen later, and just wanted to carry on with the monitor until the laptop broke, could i just cut the cables or remove them from under the keyboard? cuz i think these 2 cables connect somewhere under the keyboard...

Sometimes the connector at the back of the LCD panel can become loose and creates the problem you have described.

It is easy enough to check this but requires the LCD bezel to be removed. The bezel surrounding (and holding) the panel in place is secured usually by 4 screws. These screws are hidden behind rubber standoffs. If you look closely at the bezel and more specifically in the corners, you will see them. These square rubber standoffs are just stuck on and come off with only a little pressure.

Remove them and you will see the small screws underneath. Once unscrewed, then the bezel is clipped together and by gently removing bezel you will expose the lcd panel.

The panel is held in place by further screws on a frame. Remove these screws and the panel can be removed. The lcd connector is on the back. make sure it is secure and reassemble.

Make sure that you disconnect the laptop from the power supply and remove the battery prior to disassembly . If this does not cure then make a note of the panel size and model and ebay is usually a good place to find cheap replacement.

    Good Luck

If not wanting to leave the screen up, just get a keyboard & mouse (usb for the mouse) and go that route. Cutting wires, can not only cause other problems, but one biggie is that if it does not sense the screen, or invertor, the unit may not boot up.

Just a side comment, you can get keyboards and mice dirt cheap, why not leave the laptop folded, or almost folded, and use a external mouse/keyboard with the monitor? You have full use of the machine, and can fix it at your leasure.

hey guys... i took apart the laptop screen yesterday.. but there is no cables running around the screen... anyways i left the front frame out.. but now the problem happens alot less... and if the problem does happen, i can just touch the side of the screen and it's fixed...
