laptop scroll key and firefox and mozilla???

hey, i am using firefox and mozilla as my browsers, but on my laptop i cant seem to get the scroll key to work. i know that it has the drivers for it and that it does work ultimatly as i have tried it on other programmes, but it keeps on giving me the windows beep evertime that i try use it in frirefox/moz.
is there anyay that i can get this to work, i have looked in the options and preferences of both browsers??????
