laptop shutting off during dvd encoding

    my laptop one year old acer aspire 4520 running vista OS shuts off while encoding for dvd burn i use the windows dvd maker any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ive did system restore and ran multiple scans and cant seem to figure this problem out HELP ME PLSE

    Have you checked to see if your screen and power saver options are set to "never shut off" when it's plugged in? And that you're plugging it in while it's doing the burn? If so, that's all I can think of.

    Another possibility is overheating if your power settings are not the problem. Laptops don't have the best setup for heat dissipation and video encoding is hard work for a CPU. Purchase a can of compressed air and blow out any dust that may be in the vent slots. Also, make sure it can get plenty of airflow when running processor intensive tasks like DVD encoding.
