Laptop starting up problem.

When I went to install Windows XP on my slow laptop, it said that I needed more RAM. So instead I took the visuals off of XP and put them onto my Windows 2000, now when it starts it says beginning memory dump, then restarts. I used Tuneup Utilities to change the visuals. My Laptop only starts in safe mode, and I uninstalled the program to free up space, but I cannot reinstall it in safe mode. I only used the Folder Icon Visuals.

 

How old?

 

The only thing that i can think of if you cannot get windows to go back to normal is to repair windows by using the windows 2000 cd.

 

Well, I know that it says that BECAUSE I have the folders set to that, I just need to know how to edit the file icons. I dont know how old but it is a Toshiba Satelite Pro CD400x i think.

Download and install EVEREST. It will tell you everything about your laptop.

When you run EVEREST, Click on "Computer" icon, then on "Summary", then on "Report" (at top menu), then on "Quick Report Summary", down to "Plain text". Save it to a file, as whatever name you like, (maybe PCddmmyy--with ddmmyy being the current date). Then it can be posted for all to see.
