Laptop Startup fan spinning issue!!

Hello all.

It's one of those 2 days out of warranty problems i'm afraid! :cry

I have a wonderful Lenovo 3000 N200 that has been giving me some problems of late. Occasionally, when cold booting, the windows startup logo will appear, and I'll be able to hear the internal fan spinning up and the laptop will them switch itself off.

If the laptop gets to the startup logo and the fan doesn't engage, everything is fine. Possibly some kind of mobo temperature monitoring error shutting down the laptop thinking it is overheating or something?

I've tried updating all my drivers, and have the most up-to-date BIOS update. It's all very strange.

Lenovo won't help, sadly. Any ideas?

 

i was experiencing similar problems on a different computer, it turned out to be dust collecting on the the fan and heat sink. try blowing it out with a can of compressed air..
just an idea, good luck.

 

remember to take proper anti-static electricity measures when working on electronics, especially laptops.

 

Just to let you know- i reset the machine back to it's factory defaults and now all it's problems are sorted out. I don't know how, i don't know why, but i do know that i have my laptop back.
