Hi i have an acer aspire 5810tz running windows 7 on, and my laptop pad randomly started acting up. Every time im moving it it clicks and holds randomly, so if im moving around with it, things are getting highlighted etc. I tried updated the drivers and still the same thing. can anyone give me any advice on what i should do. Thank you

You should be able to adjust the sensitivity of the tap on the pad in the properties. It should be in Control Panel, probably in the Mouse properties.

falconattack i ran the malware its still, running at the moment 131000 files checked in 45 mins and nothing found, but it still has a little bit to go.

shnerdly, that was the first thing i did and it worked for about five minutes and then went back to the same problem. Its a really hard problem to explain but imagine constantly highlighting everything as you scroll with the pad. works fine with a regular mouse i dont get that problem, thats why i figured it was a driver issue.

thank you for the help, ill post the results of the malware program when its done as well

Did you try disabling the tap to click in properties?

The malware program finished i have 5 infected programs which were all something i tried to download a little while back and never installed it. I removed them through the anti malware program.

shnerdly, i did, i even removed everything to the point that i needed to click the physical button on the laptop in order to interact with an item, and it still does the same thing so im starting to think it may be a hardware problem where the button is just held down in a sense.

I tried out a few more things and it seems that when i use the pad only it works fine, its when i click the physical button on my mousepad that the problems occur, its as if the button is just constantly held down once i click it. Could that be a software problem or is it simply the button is physically damaged?
