    is this possible ?
    (last laptop sounded like a plane taking off so will find this pc quiet even on full)
    iv downloaded speedfan after a little reading thinking
    this would help but it does not detect my fans any ideas
    ps toshiba equium p300-t16 ,pent t2370 ,intel 965 express chipset vista home premium sorry thats all i could find out

    current temps idle'ing through power management and speedfan for tempratures (new laptop and cleaned with compressed gas and my brothers tooth brush :-D shhhh )

    low performance = 49-53

    balanced = 60-64

    high performance = 69-72

    i would like to run high performance all the time but due to heat after some time vista slows right down :cry

    thanx for any help guys XXXX

    I believe high performance mode in vista can increase your CPU speed by 50% which is the main performance increase and what would cause your cpu to overheat so this is first line of investigation to go down.

    Your temperatures are fine really,slightly high but not enough to throttle,are those temps while running a benchmark?Are they your idle temps?Do your fans change speed at all?

    With speedfan and throttle watch open run the prime 95,choose just stress test.While that's running keep an eye on your temps and include with your next post and check throttle watch to see of your CPU is throttling.

    If your speedfan can't pickup your fans its very likely they don't have sensors accessible through the operating system,only the board or bios can control the speed of them and if there isn't a setting in the bios to increase fan speed "and there usually isn't on laptops" then the only course of action is to disassemble the laptop and solder the fan wires directly to a 12V source.Go through all your bios settings and look for any setting relating to quiet mode ect.

    Before you got through the process of voiding your warranty, look on the manufacturers website for the bios updates and versions or OS Hotfixes. There may be something there to help. Do a bit of research before flashing to a new version of bios though.

    I had an old HP laptop that the "fix" to the heat problem was a hotfix update that caused the fan to run wide open constantly. Unfortunately, after getting sick of XP running so slow on it and switching to Dragon Puppy linux on it, I found out that the "fix was only available to work with XP and it cooked the lappy.
